Analysis of the construction labor market in Germany in 2025

At the beginning of 2025, we can observe several clear trends:

  1. Shortage of skilled specialists. There is a shortage, above all, of specialists with SEP qualifications, MIG/MAG welding skills, or experience in the installation of sanitary and electrical installations. High demand also applies to professions such as: isometric fitter, HVAC installer, high-voltage electrician.
  2. Growing investment in ecological construction. In line with the Green Deal plans, Germany is investing billions of euros in energy modernisation of buildings. For employees, this means new orders related to insulation of buildings, replacement of windows, roof insulation and installation of heat recovery systems.
  3. High demand in developed and border regions. The largest number of job offers in construction can be found in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Saxony and Hamburg. Polish employees are particularly keen to choose Brandenburg and Saxony, due to their proximity to the border.
  4. Formal simplifications and digitisation of recruitment. Digital transformation has caused that even recruitment for manual work is changing. Classic advertisements in newspapers and employment offices are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Their place is taken by dedicated mobile applications, such as constrAction.app, which connects specialists with construction projects in Germany – without intermediaries, commissions and unnecessary formalities.

When is the best time to look for physical work on a construction site in Germany?

The peak construction season falls between March and November. During this time, the number of job offers doubles. However, it is worth remembering that many companies recruit well in advance, so it is a good idea to start looking in winter. However, for people with experience in specialist work (underwater welder, isometric fitter, etc.), job offers in Germany construction are available all year round, including in the winter months, in the case of internal investments.
